Here is a list of some of the more popular discount travel sites that provide discount airline tickets. It pays to compare sites, and decide which has the better deal for you.

Expedia.com - Expedia is one of the top websites for booking airline tickets. The provide package discounts. They also have a "Best Price Guarantee" where they promise if you find a better price (with a difference of $6 or more) within twenty-four hours, you receive the difference back, plus an additional $50 in a travel coupon. There is some other fine print that you should read.

Orbiztz.com - Orbitz also offers package deals, stating that you can "save an average of $200 dollars". They also have an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed available, so you can be updated on deals instantly. All you need to get the RSS's is to download a RSS reader or use a web-based one and sign up for the services for which you wish to be notified.

Travelzoo.com - TravelZoo allows you to search more than one site at a time. You can either do a quick search to find the best airline tickets, or you can sign up for the e-mail newsletter that has the top twenty deals that have been researched by the their staff, located all around the US and Canada.

Cheapflights.com - Cheapflights allows you to search and book discount airline tickets. They have a list of "handpicked deals" that offer great discounts, which can be sent through their e-mail newsletter. They also have a "Useful Flight Tools" section that lists all sorts of greats hints and tips for saving on your flights. It has an A-Z list of airports and agents, and alternative airports that are near your destination that may prove cheaper than flying into your original destination. They list international flights as well as multi-city flights and several other helpful tips and news.

Priceline.com - Priceline offers everything you need to get discount airline tickets, including special "Price Breaker" deals for last minute travel. It also has a city guide of places to eat, shop and have fun, once you've arrived at your destination.

Faremax.com - Faremax, in addition to airline tickets, also offers travel packages to many locations around the world. Their site also has a Community for travelers to share blogs, post on forums and share pictures from your travels.

After you've checked on the various flights available, and have booked your flight of choice, you need to decide on either having paper tickets sent to you or get an e-ticket. With an e-ticket, you print our your purchase confirmation and take it with you to the airport and it is all handled there.
